Welcome to Willow Class a Specialist Resource Base for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
At St Denys we are hugely proud of our Resource Base Provision, a multi-sensory and nurturing environment for students with additional needs and specific learning difficulties. We specialise in cognition and learning and communication and interaction. The children that attend have a wide variety of needs including speech and language difficulties, autism and global developmental delay. We are supported by a range of external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Autism Outreach. We have a purpose-built classroom which includes full changing facilities, a sensory room and outdoor area.
Our dedicated and experienced staff team provide a safe and nurturing environment in which our children learn, grow and have fun exploring the world around them. We focus on providing motivating learning experiences that engage and enthuse our children, encouraging them to become independent learners, and we enjoy celebrating their many successes. Within the Resource Base we are always striving to ensure that each child can explore their strengths and interests and feel confident to have a go!
Learning is tailored to each individual child, and they receive high levels of adult support throughout the day to ensure they are making good progress in all areas of their learning including their individual outcomes in their EHCP’s. Our teaching and learning is rooted in practical, play-based and sensory experiences. Communication comes in many forms, and our team are highly skilled in supporting our children to form meaningful and emotional connections to people and the world around them. We pride ourselves on not only giving our children the tools to communicate, but to empower them to use and develop these skills in everyday life.
