It is our intent at St Denys Infant School to provide a high quality curriculum which inspires, engages and challenges our children. We recognise the importance of Art and Design in stimulating creativity and imagination and allowing all children to express themselves and communicate what they see, think and feel. It is our intent to provide our children with opportunities to experience a wide and varied range of art forms including drawing, painting and printing, sculpture and collage and to practice art and design skills and techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.
We aim to provide a curriculum that will equip our children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to experiment, invent and create their own works of art and design. Alongside learning and practising skills and art techniques, we want our children to know how art and design both reflect and shape our history through the study of a range of art and artists and to be able to appreciate and evaluate their work. We endeavour to, not only develop the children’s understanding and appreciation of a wide range of art and artists, but develop their own passion for the subject which they will take with them through life.
